Volatilization Behavior of Heavy Metal Chlorides from

چکیده
Molten fly ashes generated from melting treatment of municipal solid waste and automobile shredder residues are characterized as hazardous waste due to the high content of heavy metals such as Zn, Pb and Cu. In addition, the heavy metal resources could be depleted in the near future and thus, the research towards conservation of metal resources is required. In the present work, volatilization behavior of heavy metal chlorides from molten fly ashes under reduced pressure was investigated. As samples, ZnCl2, PbCl2 and CuCl reagents, model fly ashes composed of ZnCl2, PbCl2 and CuCl reagents at various ratios with/without additional components, and real molten fly ash were used. As a result, it was found that respective volatilization rates of ZnCl2, PbCl2 and CuCl in single component systems were higher than volatilization rates of ZnCl2, PbCl2 and CuCl in three-component system. Further, the effect of fly ash composition of Al2O3, NaCl, KCl and CaCl2 on metal volatilization was investigated. As a result, the presence of inorganic chlorides of NaCl, KCl and CaCl2 were found to reduce the amount of volatilized heavy metals from model fly ashes, and thus the amount of volatilized heavy metal chlorides from real molten fly ash was found to be 0.27 – 0.65 times lower than that of model fly ash without addition of NaCl, KCl and CaCl2.

Two mechanisms of oral malodor inhibition by zinc ions
The aim of this study was to reveal the mechanisms by which zinc ions inhibit oral malodor. The direct binding of zinc ions to gaseous hydrogen sulfide (H2S) was assessed in comparison with other metal ions. Nine metal chlorides and six metal acetates were examined. To understand the strength of H2S volatilization inhibition, the minimum concentration needed to inhibit H2S volatilization was de...
متن کاملDistribution and leaching characteristics of trace elements in ashes as a function of different waste fuels and incineration technologies.
Impact of waste fuels (virgin/waste wood, mixed biofuel (peat, bark, wood chips) industrial, household, mixed waste fuel) and incineration technologies on partitioning and leaching behavior of trace elements has been investigated. Study included 4 grate fired and 9 fluidized boilers. Results showed that mixed waste incineration mostly caused increased transfer of trace elements to fly ash; part...

The need to elimination heavy metal from aqueous solutions cannot be over emphasized.Very studies have investigated the removal heavy metal from water. In this study a new magnetic nanocomposite of PEI on magnetized Sawdust (SD/MNP/PEI) was prepared. Investigations were conducted to study the adsorption behavior of heavy metal Zn (II) on the SD/MNP/PEI nanocomposite in aqueous medium by varying...

متن کاملReaction-Mediator-Based Chlorination for the Recycling of Titanium Metal Scrap Utilizing Chloride Waste
In this study, a novel chlorination technique for metallic titanium (Ti) was devised in order to establish a recycling process that uses both Ti metal scrap and iron chloride (FeClx) waste, and its feasibility was demonstrated. Direct reaction between Ti and FeClx has drawbacks such as slow kinetics of Ti chlorination and high volatilization of FeClx. To overcome these, the authors proposed a c...
